When I turn the ignition on, fuel pump makes loud squealing/whine for about 3 seconds, then sounds normal, Not all the time , just first start up for the day. Not temp related as we are in summer over here.

Mine does the same. I assume it’s norma to building fuel pressure, but I’m no mechanic.

 

I'd suggest you record it with your phone and email it to your dealer.

 

Mine does it too. They all do (according to my dealer).

 

Bit disconcerting. BB is coming up to 12 months old in April, only started to make this noise a few weeks back.

 

Mine does it if its not been run for a while, its not something I will lose sleep over.

 

I turned on the power on my Bobber to change the clock. The fuel pump squealed a little. I suspect it had dried a bit since the last run. I didn't think it was a big deal.

 

My old TL1000 did it for all the years I owned it; I took it as a reassuring noise that indicated the pump was working!

 

The two Tiger 800 I've owned make a sound when turning on the ignition as the fuel pump starts up.
