For all those who do their own servicing or do their service at a non-official dealer:

As you know, the service ´key´ cannot be removed from the display by holding/pushing a sequence of buttons & some dealers charge $$´s to hook up the OBD and delete the key if you did not service the bike at their garage.
As i use an independent mechanic, i ordered this tool which is compatible with ALL Triumph bikes and has a range of useful features (including the ability to delete the service key).
I know that there are other FREE OBD interfaces out there, but i always prefer to pay a bit more and have assistance should the need arise.
It is a top quality interface and the only downside is that each one is restricted to a specific VIN number UNLESS you pay for more licenses or the unrestricted dealer version. I purchased the single license version for 70 pounds (around $90)

Ordered one today. The DealerTool is cheaper than a similar reader I had to buy for my BMW in order to read codes and reset the service notice.

YDRC Eisen! (You don't remember correctly:wink2:)

You have to connect Dealertool to the ECU's OBDII connector (under the right side cover) of the bike and read the ECU number with the Dealertool software on the PC. Then you have to email this (5x 6 numbers) code to sales@dalertool.uk.co. Within minutes you then get the ECU unlock key (5x 6 numbers) emailed back! Last but not least you have to register your ECU with this unlock key in your Dealertool software. Thats it.

Once you want to register another bike also, you just have to pay for the additional license and to do the registration procedure for the new bike again. Thats it.

Make sure your bike is on (the engine doesn’t have to be running but can be) and there is definitely a way to choose the COM port in the upper bar of the program - perhaps under the “options” tab. I can’t remember exactly where, but I know it’s there cause I also had this small issue.
Also, make sure windows is not blocking any communications. The new Windows is a total PITA!

If you can’t, I recommend emailing DealerTool directly as they are very helpful and quick to respond.

Has anyone updated the operating system on their computers, or switched PC's? I'm about to upgrade to WIN10 from WIN7 and don't want to lose my registration?
Would I re-install, enter the VIN and code?
