Has anyone found a windscreen that fits the Bobber Black? I love this one but it does not fit our upgraded forks

Hey Roy, any updates on your Speedmaster screen on the Bobber? What kind of work did you have to do to make it fit?
HI TAF42,

Yes, all finished and very pleased.

See this link for my dedicated thread on this topic: https://www.triumphbobberforum.com/forum/113-triumph-supersport-bobber-general-discussion/14709-fitting-speedmaster-touring-windshield-bobber-black-3.html

It took a little more work than I had expected, some trial and error but it has all worked out splendidly in the end and I'm thrilled. If you want specific details on how this was accomplished, I'm happy to share.

Pics attached.

Cheerio,

Roy

That looks brilliant Roy! I'd love to do that for my bike as I find I am doing much more highway riding than I anticipated when I got my Bobber. While I certainly understand that a windscreen for this bike is taboo, I really don't want to look at trading it in for something different. I love my bike and would like to modify it to my ideal, as you clearly have and continue to do. If you don't mind detailing how you did this all, I did read the other thread, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not the most handy person ever, but I see you did get help from shops and so on.
- I do have a shop nearby where I can get things powder coated. (Did that for my paneer rails.)
- I do have a Triumph dealer in town where I can order the Speedmaster shield from.
- I do live in a big enough city that I should be able to find help with the rest. I hope.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tobias,

Yes, I'm happy to share my process and pics. If I don't answer in enough detail just let me know.

#1: I purchase the Speedmaster 'Londhaul Screen' (pic attached). The fork mounting brackets don't fit, so put them aside.

#2 Next I purchased 4 (two pairs) of the Motone 47mm Wrap Around Front Turn Signal Brackets. These came from A&J. There are 'two' different insert nuts that come with these for different thread pitches (M10 if I remember correctly).

#3 The above brackets position the screen forward OR rearward of the forks (the stock ones position it central). Rearward has the screen mounting bracket too close to the tank for comfort, so I mounted them in the forward position.

#4 The forward position has the screen a little too forward of the headlight (I'm running a Speedy headlight) and I wanted it slightly further back. To accomplish this I drilled the mounting holes approximately 40 mm forward of the original holes which pulled the screen back by that amount and lined it up with my headlight bezel much better.

#5 With the new mounting holes drilled the rear portion of the brackets were obsolete, so I had my local custom bike guy cut the excess off, round off the ends and powder coat them.

#6 To mount the screen with the new brackets properly I purchased some nice bolts and also some cheep spacers (25mm if I remember correctly) from the hardware story, these were powder coated black too.

#7 Just for a finishing touch; I ordered from my Triumph dealer a little Triumph badge to attached to the front of the screen.

That's it (I think) Tobias. I will add lots of pics which hopefully show the whole process. If I can help further just let me know. Or if you would like the high res photos just email me, happy to share.

From a personal perspective, I 'love' this upgrade. I know it's not for everyone but I'm so chuffed I went down this road. I think my bike looks terrific and it make riding more comfortable too.

Cheerio and good luck.

Roy

Absolutely brilliant! Thank you kindly Roy! Very much appreciated! I'll be getting on this asap.

One question... Do you find your gas mileage has gone up with the screen? I was watching a Youtube video of a guy putting on a Givi A31 windscreen on his Bobber and he claimed he ended up with a pretty good increase in range.

Hi Roy,

You mention that you’re using a Speedy headlight. Just curious, what is the difference between that one and the Bobber light?

Just got the windscreen and brackets in the mail yesterday. Just need some bolts to get it on the bike, but making progress! Oh, did you use those 125mm or 150mm plastic... things (don’t know what they’re called) that came with the brackets?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tobias,

The Speedmaster headlight is much larger and a difference shape.

I don't recall the plastic thingies, so clearly just left them in the box. I did use the threaded inserts though, so the it gives something for the larger bolts I used to thread into.

Good luck..!

Hi Roy,

Ahhh, ok. I thought that might be the case. Holding the screen up over the headlight to see how it would look, I noticed a significant gap between the light and the edge of the screen in a position that I thought it might end up. Nothing terrible, but noticeable.

Threaded inserts. Yes. Those. Those are the thingies I was trying rather poorly to describe. Ok, you did use them. Good to know. Just need to get those bolts from the hardware store then and I can attempt mounting the screen.

Thanks again!

Hi Tobias,

Here is a couple of images that may help.

You can see the bolts, spacers and the threaded inserts.

I tried a number of different setups and this worked the best for me.

What is the length of those bolts Roy?
Hi Tobia,

The bolts are 70mm long. As I recall (going from memory) they are M10. The brackets are drilled for M8, so when I drilled the new holes I had to make them 10mm for the new bolts.

Check the inserts that come with the brackets as I think these are 10mm.

Also for note, the spacers I used were 24mm.

And....to try the concept and before I started drilling holes etc. I used 8mm extra long bolts to try everything out before I settled on the specifics above.
