There is a lot of chat on here about side plates which in turn leads to pics of everyone's mods to the rear. Try 'a tail tidy' search as well.

Unless the law has changed very recently side mounted plates are legal in the UK, as long as you follow the following rules:

The brake and tail lights should be still centred on the bike.

It should be clearly visible - ie not so far back towards the pegs that it gets obscured by the wheel when viewed from the opposite side.

It must be mounted securely and safely (common sense)

It must be lit up and of the correct size and font


If you're really worried about legality get a German TUV approved side plate they're virtually level with the rear wheel and are so large you can see them from miles away!
