Share what you have done recently with the Bonneville Bobber forum community!

Example: I took her out of the garage and gave her a nice bath and followed up with a coat of wax.

Example: Finally received my slash pipes, going to spend sometime with the install.

Example: Installed my custom side bags with brackets and when out for a ride.

Anything goes!

Well as some of you may know - I lost my bobber to bureaucracy a couple of years ago.
This may have you wondering; What is this idiot doing posting in the bobber forum?

Well. What I did with my bobber today was BUY IT!

I put my deposit down and I am picking up a 2018 with ~1300 miles on it on Friday morning. Wheels hit the ground at 6am!

I intend to have it be a near replica of the one in my profile picture and previous posts by the end of summer. Except maybe the engine casings will stay as is. They are growing on me.

TL-DR:

I’ve done it loads of times so fairly easy.. just lift the tank at the rear and place a piece of wood under to support it, un clip the fuel pipe (I use special pliers to pinch the sides) then undo 2 electrical connectors, and the breather pipe from the left side. And lift the tank away
Do you need to empty the tank?

I’m a newbie here so I don’t know the story. But welcome back.

No, but with less fuel in the tank it is easier.

No, but lighter the better, you’ll get a small amount of fuel leakage from the main pipe but it’s only what‘s in the pipe.

Today I added a bit of bling in the shape of a new chain.. (broke my riveting tool)☹ finally got my multi function lights to work properly, refitted the fuel tank and actually rode it up my street..

Black ones do exist but I know for the timing when I got mine a couple months ago no black sprockets in 39t were available any where( in the us) from any company. For it being $30ish dollars, chrome is good for now.

Today I went to the canuck version of the DMV and transferred ownership on my new (to me) bobber.

I can't really ride it with the super low bars that are currently on it, but I have removed the pillion seat and passenger pegs that the previous owner installed, and I have the high bars here ready to go on as soon as the cable kit shows up.

I also figured out that the main shock on this is actually from a speedmaster. Is there any reason to go back to stock? I'm a pretty hefty dude. ~240lbs before lunch. So I figure it might actually be one of the best upgrades that I missed on my last bobber. Thoughts?

Next up - matte black paint on the fenders and side covers, rear fender rack, and attaching a saddlebag as well as my custom water-canteen turned toolkit.

The work never ends - Thank Cthulhu!

I am about 210lbs and have a speedmaster. I set the shock about one click over half way and it works great for me. I would leave the speedmaster shock on it and see how you like it.

Chico do you have too add a link to the chain when adding 39 sprocket?
I don't know the answer, I didn't change the tooth count on my Bobber. Perhaps Enoch might know.

Chico
Yes mines a 39 tooth.. 🤓
Enoch did you have to add a link to your chain when you installed the 39 tooth?
