Was hanging out with a Triumph Dealer Mechanic who had his Triumph Bobber in the shop changing his rear tire, and in taking off his rear tire, he discovered that the tabs holding the wiring harness in place underneath the rear fender had come loose from all of the bumps in the road causing the wiring to start to wear as it was rubbing against the rear tire.

I think Roy mentioned this a few days back when he fitted his rack?

Hi Gents,

Yes..! I mentioned this the other week, as when I went to fit my fender rack the wiring was 'resting' on the tyre. Although the tabs looked like they had not been bent back in place by the mechanic after the fender had been replaced.

You can see it in situ but have to get down and use a flashlight.

The next time I have work done at the dealership they are planning to remove the wheel and double check all is okay (I managed to put it back (just) myself). I'm going to suggest they use some strong duct tame to cover the whole thing at that point.

In the upper left area of the photo you can see the wiring dropping down on the tyre. This was as I found it.

So, one benefit to the Bike Brothers rear short fender is that these cables are rerouted and this problem is non existent.

But it’s certainly an issue that Triumph have to address...

Taillight harness

One thing I noticed when I went to remove my taillight/turn signal assy was the excessive amount of dielectric grease used on the turn signal connectors. That combined with a poor clip design did not hold them together very well and they came apart almost instantly.
