Panniers Installation Advice

The instructions for installing the panniers mentions removing the exhaust and locking the chain tensioner on the right side. For those of you who have completed the installation, did you have to remove the exhaust, etc.?

I didn't have to removed them.. Just took a little finesse after remove one bolt underneath each exhaust.
I'm getting ready to install mine as well and I couldn't find a tensioner?
I've removed and re-installed mine several times and never had to touch the tensioner or remove the muffler. Here's how my process:

1. Remove the bolt holding the muffler to the rear bracket.
2. Remove the bolt holding the bracket to the frame.
3. Gently swing the muffler out far enough to position the pannier bracket on the frame.
4. Replace the bolt holding the pannier bracket and muffler bracket to the frame.
5. Gently swing the muffler back in place and re-install the bolt

I remove my Pannier brackets when I'm not planning to go on long trips. I can remove\install both sides in less than 5-mins.

Hi Spridal
Can you do me a favor and tell me what is the reference of the brackets / rails ? Trying desperately to find it to purchase them separately. The closest I've found is the reference for the T120/T100 (A9510168 and A9510167) but not sure if this would fit the bobber.

Thanks

Diane

Hi Diane,
I don't believe there's any published part number for the brackets only. I don't think the T120/T100 rails will fit. Take a look at the attached diagram of the Bobber Pannier and Rail assembly. You will notice that it is different than the T120/T100.

I had recently asked my dealer to price the rails separately so if I wanted to use a different bag and they were able to come up with it in their parts catalog! Part #'s T9510263 right, T9510264 left. Price at $128.25 each.

Ok, Glad you found the part#. I powder coated mine black to match the frame. To me the chrome just did not look right on the bobber.
Keep us updated... I would like to see what style bags you come up with.

I haven't purchased the rails yet as I have not found a set of bags that suit my fancy. So far I've installed a Trip Machine tank pouch and a Bike Bros. tool bag. ;)
I would like something big enough to hold my jacket if needed eventually.

I have a Trip Machine Tank Pouch in new condition, same color (tobacco) as the one pictured above for sale. Asking 30.00 shipped to any of the lower 48 :)
