I have a noise in the rear wheel. It is mainly only noticeable when not under load; Like clutch in rolling down a hill. Or when on the paddock stand and I give it a spin.
There isn't enough pressure to slow the wheel when in I spin it. But I can hear a little rubbing that gets louder with faster turning.
My biggest problem is that I don't remember if it was there when I picked the bike up, or if I just noticed it because of being hyper vigilant after doing some work with the rear wheel off over the weekend. (not my first time with the wheel off on this bike, but the first time I paid such close attention right after doing the work)
I don't see any gouging on the brake disc except the normal thin concentric rings, and I triple checked wheel alignment and chain tension. If I get right up close to the wheel when spinning the sound is pretty well centered on the caliper area, but my ears have had a lot of loud music and wind forced into them over the years, so I won't completely write off the idea that it could be the spacers.
Is there any reason not to spritz the spacers with WD-40 on these new machines? Is it worth it to tear it all apart and regrease everything? Is it just how floating calipers and disc brakes sound when they are new?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
Note: ODO Is sitting just over 400miles. I'd rather not take it to the dealer until it is due for first service.
Side note: It is funny how much more careful I am with this one. All my other bikes have been fixed with the sticks and rocks at hand and then rode hard until something new fell off or snapped in half. But this one has a little rubbing sound that I can't even hear over the wind at 15mph and I'm worried the wheel is gonna fall off in a corner...
