Hi Guys n Girls

Rewarded myself with a 2019 Bobber Black for my 50th this year and decided to make it my own. Ive fitted British Customs straight pipes with x pipe (sounds amazing), Im having clip ons added for a meaner look and found a triumph side plate holder (like rocking horse **** these are). last item is the short rear mudguard (again, like hens teeth) but i got one. My question is, will the multifunction rear lights, sold by Triumph, pass an MOT? I know i wont have any problems in that area for another three years...BUT would the bike bullies in blue pull me over??

Welcome to the forum.

As you’ll come to learn, we are a fun, knowledgeable & closely knit group who give as much respect to each other as we do to the boys (and girls) in blue and indeed any public servant who risks their lives to look after us.

To answer you question, if the multifunction lights are EU homologated (and not US imports) then they should pass the MOT just fine.
I know that products marked or stamped with a tiny E (like on indicators and headlights) are homologated and would pass our equivalent of your MOT.

What would make them fail a MoT, the fact the US use red or that they are all in one?
If it is only that they flash red, would these be ok as these are what I’m looking at installing in black? I’m totally crap when it come to the legalities of things.

“E-Homologation” as listed on the product details in the link you sent.
These should be perfectly legal to use within any EU country.

Cheers Eisen, now I just need to plan what to do with the rear end. Am I right in thinking that side mounted plated are illegal in Spain? Might be France....

Sorry, I should have also welcomed you rather than hijacked your thread. Welcome and enjoy the smiles per miles the bobber seems to give.

Side mounted plates are not allowed on new bikes.
I got fined for having one (bike brothers) and decided to install a Moskis plate holder.

Welcome to the group and congratulations on your purchase! Did you go with the matte or gloss finish? Sounds like you're making lots of changes right out of the chute. Looking forward to seeing pics as you progress.

No, the US spec versions originally sold with Triumph's short rear mudguard won't pass an MOT as red indicators aren't legal in the UK.

However your in luck, Triumph have just brought out some EU spec multifunction rear lights or if you don't fancy them Rizoma and Kellermann make some great lights that are also legal in the UK.
