Hi all,

It’s been a while since I last posted. As some of you already know my Mother passed away quite recently. Riding a bike is good for our souls at the best of times and it’s proved to be even more so the case during a bad time.

I also picked up my new BMW R1200GS Adventure TE around 4 weeks ago and in that time I’ve managed to cover 800 miles of good for the mind riding. It’s a truly epic machine, fast, efficient, comfortable and incredibly imposing to a degree of cars moving out of the way when they see it approaching from behind in all of its blazing LED light glory... but in spite of all of that, it just doesn’t have the soul and spirit of my Bobber Black. In a nutshell it boils down character... something the BB has in spades. The Bobber B also wins my fabled coffee test... which is a simple matter of which bike would I rather stare at whilst drinking my pit stop coffee!

But don’t get me wrong... I kind of knew what I was buying into with the BMW. I wanted a bike that fits my 6.4” and 110kg comfortably, something I can tour on for hours and hours which this massive metre plus wide bike offers.

To sum matters up perfectly... the GSA is definitely the bike you want to get there on... but the Bobber is 100% the bike you want to be there on!

Very sorry for your loss.

The GSA will grow on you. It’s not a bond that happens overnight but one that blooms as you learn to appreciate what an phenomenal do-it-all bike it is.

As much as I like the Bobber, I’ve never once taken the GSA anywhere and wished I was on the Triumph.

The Bobber is a tuxedo, taken out to look good, be seen and enjoy when the time is right.
The GSA is a pair of your favorite jeans that just seem to suit every dam* occasion no matter what...

Hi Mike, losing a parent is one of those difficult times most of us have to live and cope through, my condolences for the loss of your mom.
By the way, what is that yellow object in your garage?

Thanks for your wishes folks... very much appreciated.

I can certainly see that becoming the case Eisen. It’s just so easy and it has managed to grow on me somewhat already.

The yellow thing is in fact an orange thing. It’s a Lotus Exige 320S :)

Sorry for your loss. I lost my mom last year. You are lucky to have both bikes. I love the look of the Bobber but I like taking my wife along so it was Speedmaster for me. There are still a few desert roads around here that I was exploring with the Ural but there’s no way I’m taking the Speedy on those!
