"Is that a Honda or Yamaha?"

That's what someone in a car next to me at a stop light asked me the other day. I simply said it was a Triumph and he was like, "oh, cool."

Never really thought that Triumphs might be confused with Japanese bikes. Maybe the guy didn't really know much about bikes and thought those were the only brands out there - and also must not have noticed the Triumph emblem on the tank. Anyways, I got a kick out of it. Don't get me wrong, Hondas, Yamahas, and the likes are all great bikes (have owned in the past a Yamaha, and Suzuki.)

Just thought I'd like to share this amusing incident with everyone.

-Cheers!

When I jumped back into motorcycles after a 26 year sabbatical to raise a family, I chose a 2010 Thunderbird. It also was confused with a Japanese bike, which I quickly corrected. For the older folks, Triumph disappeared for a time and is now almost forgotten among those who don't ride. For some, if they don't recognize it as a Harley, it must be Japanese.
