My bike has this side plate mount and it originally had a reflector on it which the previous owner removed. But I kind of want to cut the extra metal tab off and paint it to prevent rust. I don’t want it to look hack. I’d want a clean cut so after it’s painted it looks like it was always that way. I don’t know the best way to tackle this and don’t want to attempt something and regret doing it. Is this worth it or should I leave it? How would you do it? Thanks

I would say the fact your asking tells me you're not that savy with a cut off wheel or an angle grinder. So my thought it just leave it alone or find someone who can do it for you that has experience in doing this type of work. Taking it off the bike to someone in a machine shop or welding shop would work too and they can even pretty it up and paint it for you.
