Alright gents! and of course the ladies of the forum. I hope this to be a complete guide for anyone that's on the fence on buying black leather Corbins and Wilbers 640.

I've saved and I've bought... Corbin (all black leather seats and I mean everything on the options) and Wilbers 640 within a 2 or 3 days together.

I know there are a lot of threads on Corbin seats and of course Wilber shocks but I haven't seen much on pulling the trigger at the same time on both.

HERE'S WHY I DID IT:
I love this bike (2022 Bobber). It's my first bike. I rode over 700 miles on it within a month and I want to love it. Reality is that the shocks is not good... at least not to good enough for heavier people like me. The seats aren't good for long. It's fine when you sit on it but as time goes by you realize how uncomfortable it gets. It's tough for me to be on it for more than an hour tbh. I'm within 240lbs on most days and I never weighed myself with gear on... Fat asses needs fatter seats!

This is just going to be part 1 since it will take a few weeks for either parts to arrive. I plan to install both myself so when I do, I will post updates so let me know what would be helpful for anyone that's in similar purchase dilemmas :)

Handmade is awesome but I did not realize the work time to be this long. It's actually way longer than I expected but it is what it is and I can't do much about it. ACCEPTABLE

Wilbers--- I ordered from their US website. Looks like it's based in New Jersey. Kind of a unique experience for me because you don't need to put in you credit card info on check out... they'll invoice you and ask for payment which is nice and for those that have worked outside of traditional retail will understand. I have about a 3 -4 weeks wait time with them.

Things to consider... your ride weight (your weight and gear weight included) and also your weight + luggage weight... My bobber doesn't have any additional luggage weight other than my backpack so it's limited to 30 to 40 pounds. They ask for it and how often you ride a certain way so I suppose you have to actually think about it...

TBD on deliveries but I'm very excited and want to share the process with folks in the similar phase. Again or reference. I'm around 240lbs -, 6'2"

I know money is money gents! I paid a bit over $500 for the Corbins and over $800 for the Wilbers. Actual total comes to somewhere over $1350...

You have started on the path to a more comfortable ride, now you need to think about your front end suspenders. With a balanced system if the back is weak, so is the front. You can opt for less money by adding some preload adjusters to the front forks and then dial up some preload to adjust fork action. If that's better, but not ideal, spend a few more bucks on heavier springs. IF that is still not perfect then you can spend the big money on full blown fork emulators that accomodate preload, compression and rebound damping. The cost for doing that are about what you spent on the rear suspension and seat combined. Assuming you have the Showa forks the only maker of this kit is Matris from Italy.

It's been a couple of weeks and the Corbins arrived today. Faster than what was estimated!

I rode around for about 10 minutes so I'll follow up with riding impressions once I get some more miles in but at first glance this is a very comfy and massive seat. I took a lot of comparison pictures for reference. It's so much wider and deeper than the OEM that I feel much secure and comfortable to sit back into the seat.

One thing that really surprised me was how thin the OEM seats are once you actually take it off the seat pan. The install of the Corbin seats on to the seat pan was easy, all the bolts are in the seat when it's shipped. The torx size is smaller on the Corbin seats than the ones used on OEM seat (T-15). Looks like the Corbin uses T-10.

Time will tell but I'm super happy about the quality and the overall fit of the seat so far.

Side note, while I wait for the Corbins to arrive, I installed the BC turnouts yesterday and I feel like I just bought a brand new bike again.

Personally I like the look of my Tom Hurley: (and it's built on the stock seat pan)

Everything in australia is expensive, we do have higher wages but it’s pretty expensive to live here.

Also they post it in the original box they use for USA which is massive and not needed.

The ALC seat shipped from Germany via express is only $100 aud, the box isn’t much bigger then the seat.

Wow!
That's a real eye opener as far as how much more cushion your actually getting!
Looks super comfy , like if had that I could put the 100 mile avg for fun a day and the enjoyment level would be doubled 😀
Only draw back..
It does look bigger.. noticably.
But that's only noticed when your ass ain't in it..
So...
**** yeah!
I just installed my British customs gel seat.
It looks awesome..even better than stock.
But I'm already thinking of going for Corbin's because of that comfort.

Shocks next in my list ..
Let us know how that works out for ya.
