I like the brand Chain Wax, easily available all over and pretty cheap but good. I do mine about once a year or so. Scrub it with a chain brush and water with a mild detergent, then WD40, then Chain Wax.

The frequency of maintenance is really going to vary depending on your riding conditions.

I am a fair weather rider and have nearly 7k miles on a chain that has never been lubed with heavy chain lubes and has never needed any adjustment so far. This wouldn’t be the case if I rode in harsh environments.

I clean the chain with kerosene and use engine oil for lube about every 1K miles. I'm also a fair weather rider.

I daily ride mine and clean/ wax every 500 miles. Might seem like too often to some but spending the 10 minutes is worth it to me to keep the chain in top shape. Your riding conditions play a huge role and since I am in southern California I am fortunate to not get caught in the rain much.

I use Maxima's product line for degreaser and chain wax.

When I had a chain, I used Wurth PTFE chain Oiler. It was as good as any other brand I’ve used with less spray and dirt, which was a plus.

Some Bobber owners have opted for auto chain oilers (like Scottoiler, etc).

There is a thread about it here and perhaps some updated/smaller systems have been released since the thread began:

Maybe @AandJCycles know about a more discrete system for the Bobber...?

I'm in the Maxima Chain Wax camp as well. I cleaned my chain with the cleaner, rinsed off, let it dry and then applied the Chain Wax. I'd let it sit overnight to set and I've never had any issues. I used to do this every 500 miles, but so many guys on here talked about doing it every thousand or once a year that I started stretching it to more like once every 800 miles or so.

I buy this kit off Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FFZU25S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The stickiest, gloopiest, nastiest chain lube i can get my hands on, slathered on well beyond whats needed as i miss my scottoiler, a £5 can of lube under used killing a £200 chain and sprockets is a criminal act imho

I've used plenty of brands over the 3 decades. I found Bel-Ray Superclean a decade ago and have never looked back. It has quite a following.
Always hated that stuff. Nothing but a big white mess. Maybe effective but the build up was always unacceptable to me.

They sell plenty of it, so someone loves it. I prefer Maxima products.
