Hi Guys!

I am familiar with chain cleaning and lubing very well as I owned a Tiger before the Bobber. Using kerosene to clean and Maxima chain wax to lube.

As the Bobber is very compact around to drive chain area with the exhaust right there and the 'cage' in the way what works best for you guys cleaning and lubing the chain? Do you cover the exhaust with a plastic bag before cleaning? Do you take the exhaust off?

If you could share what works best for you. Thanks

Didn't really think about this until you mentioned chain cleaning.

Best way I can think of (haven't tried this) is to cover the exhaust and reflectors with a plastic bag and cover up part of the cage that's close to the sprocket. Then work on the area farthest from the exhaust and rotate the wheel to get the whole chain.

How often on these new chains if ridden in fair weather do you really need to clean, lube and adjust?

Really depends on how often you ride, weather and road conditions. If it rained and I rode in it, then I'd clean and lube afterwards. Otherwise, a good general rule of thumb is around 600 miles.
