hey guys,

i'm putting together a "seat pylon" made of polyurethane with a 75A durometer (i probably should have gotten a softer piece around 60A, but this will work as a prototype)

my goal here is to (1) raise the seat up a bit (i've got long legs) and (2) absorb some road vibration.

the challenge is how to attach the seat to the tongue with the polyurethane pylon in between so that the pylon can do it's absorption? so far my best idea is to use a pair of 3/8" clevis pins (the same O.D. as the stock seat bolts) with the head starting atop the seat pan, going through the pylon, and then locked in on the underside of the tongue with cotter pins.

other ideas and thoughts would be appreciated...

Won't the seat pins just transmit the vibration straight from tongue to seat (ooerr missus...)? I would have expected you'd need to have screws go from tongue to block, and then separate screws going from block to seat, so that vibrations had to travel through the block and hence get damped by the block material.

But since I don't know 75A durometer polyurethane from Nellie the Elephant, take my advice with a shovelful of salt...
