Well, I've gone and done it now...

I've ordered a set of SW Motech Legend LC2 bags for the Speedmaster... I'm not into a lot of farkling, indeed, my only changes were the Highway kit plus floorboards (because of my knee issues). Originally I looked at the Triumph bags but as soon as I saw them, dismissed them immediately.

Well, I was very impressed when I saw the LC2 bags today. They look well made, and the black limited edition look as if they will match the Speedy well... Pictures to follow

Well done Larry, good show old chap.

Let's see some pics when you get them fitted.

I've now got 'three' options for panniers (how did that happen) I can choose from but must admit I'm currently digging my hard panniers.

Cheerio,

Roy

I'm looking at these same bags for our 2018 Speedmaster. Can't wait to see your pictures. If possible can you take some photos from the side looking straight at the bags. I would like to see how far back they sit in relation to the passenger foot pegs. I want to make sure that my wife's legs won't hit the bags.

Thanks

I'm amazed. I called the dealer (Adventure Bike Shop, Sudbury, Suffolk) back to say I'd have them, Monday at 1500. They checked with the UK importer and called me back to say there were none in the UK, and that they'd be about a week coming from Germany. Call at 1100, they've arrived. Pictures later... (including side on as requested !)

Well I've collected the bags, anticipated a 15 min job... WHY OH WHY do Triumph mix their fastener types. The bolts I have to remove to add the brackets are TORX... bits arriving from Amazon tomorrow...

Torx bits arrived today and made everything easy, until I came to mount the bags... There are three lugs on the carriers, two of which have simple CSK bolts through plastic bobbins, the third has a socket head and spacer which enables the latch to work. The RH Bag, the latch is at the rear, the RH at the front.... My immediate thought was I've got 2 RH bags (which I still may) but swapping the odd spacer/bobbin from the front to the rear sorted it... So if you buy a set beware.

Pics are here:

Top view and side view of each side. Will take better when I take the bike out next.

That looks good. Any chance of a picture of the brackets and how the bags attach?

Thanks for the pics. I understand what your saying about the attachment points. It does sound like you have two of the same bags. I've included a photo from sw-motech's website and the attachment points where you would hear the "click" are both at the front. After looking at you photo's I'm still not sure if my wife's legs would clear the bags.

I took the bike with the bags up to the shop where I got them today, and yes I have two RH bags... LH one should be with me on Tuesday. There's another issue in that the front mount bolts which replace two OEM bolts are too short. I thought they were a bit "skinny" when I fitted the brackets, so I measured up. The length of the bolts supplied is 70mm (big old M10, by the way). The length of the OEM is 35mm, and the additional length required for the bracket is 35mm, so by my reckoning they should be 80mm long... Importer is also supplying replacements... I can't believe they've ever been fitted to a real Speedmaster, although the pictures on the SW-Motech site suggest they have been...

Wider view pics of the bags as far as I could...
