I was born and raised in Wisconsin, and my home state has a reputation that most in the United States have heard of. When our Wisconsin Badgers football team travels to other states, the fans that follow have been known to drink stadiums and/or bars in the host city out of beer altogether. Now that my metabolism isn't what it was in my 20's, I've slowed down a lot with the beer drinking, but every Fall I can't wait to get my hands on a Schell's Octoberfest (made in Minnesota seasonally, and my absolute favorite) or an oatmeal Porter from 612 Brewery in Northeast Minneapolis. I love picking up a 64oz growler of porter and loading into my fizzics beer dispensor for an afternoon of watching football in front of a nice fire. Good times!

Maybe it was the festivities that made the beer better, but everything I drank in Munich during Oktoberfest was pretty much the best beer I've ever had. So much Hofbräu within one week.

German beers exist.
they are good for the Germans ...
and for those who want to drink everything except coca

but, I'm ready to drink a bad beer rather than a coca cola

Rode to a local brewery this afternoon for a glass and fill a growler. Temp below 32F. Was only 4.5 miles from the house, so not bad. Sunny, good reason to get the bike warmed up. Fogged up the face shield!

1st glass was Double IPA from Old Bust Head Brewery. Growler filled with "Gold Cup", which is an Russian Imperial Stout, from the same brewery, and being enjoyed on my workbench.

Thanks! It's only a 32oz. You can get it in 64oz as well.

During my Army time, I was in Suffield, Alberta in Canada, training for Tank battles and firing war ammunition! This was late seventies and we were drinking Labatts 50 and Labatts Blue in the little stubby bottles; apparently this is/was French beer! (PFEN is probably shakin his head now :-)) But I loved it! Never saw it again after that.

Today though; after hearing from my doctor that I should avoid things with barley in it; (among a whole load of other things), I stick mainly to a nice glass of red wine and as long as it's not too dry, I'm fine with most! South African, Australian Yellow Tail, Californian, (got a fable for the Gallo Zinfandel) Italian, and even Greek Imiglikos

CHEERS!
