Part Two of my bobber journey

As promised, albeit very quickly... (I had some time to kill) and I’m excited to share, so here’s part two of my bobber journey.

One thing I always disliked about the bobber was the untidy rear light cluster. Let’s face it, it was huge and in my opinion ruined the lines of the bike so... I changed it.

Great job.....really nice looking fender too. Can you explain what was done? It appears you removed a section of fender and welded the original finished end to the shortened fender.....(although I see no weld line or marks that would support that theory)

Picture three shows three holes and then in subsequent pics the holes are gone.....and it seems the fender is shorter again. Did you remove an additional section??

Did you do the welding? It looks pretty good /

and----Where in the world do you hail from ?

That's 90% where my rear mudguard will finish this winter, you cut out a section to keep the trailing edge styling, but how have you welded it to be invisible and not be painted, or is it painted?

You're 100% correct, we cut a midsection from the fender, welded the holes, hand rolled the ridge to soften the lip then rewelded the original end back onto the (now shorter) fender, then resprayed.

Lots of work when you can buy a short fender from Triumph, Bike Brothers etc. but they all seemed to be either straight cut or the ridge didn't seem to come to a natural end, so we made our own and even better, we did it from the original!

We ended up losing the stay bar as the angle was too severe. You can see it better in the video/pic below.

Hey Brigstocksbobber,

It is indeed welded and painted, a fair bit of work went into this, although worth it.

OK, I want the finish but will be bare metal like the rest of the bike is slowly doing, and dont want a weld line, so will need to find another solution, thanks

You could always cut and shape the original fender without welding then hand role the ridge? Would be a little more freehand work but no weld linee.
