Ultimate Motorcycling Bobber Review

Ultimate Motorcycling calls the bobber a back to basics bike as its design manages to capture the authenticity of the genre whilst giving us improved performance. Rumor has it, Triumph support staff have tales of sport bike hunting with the bobber.

I don't doubt the 1197cc parallel twin engine is capable of keeping up or outpacing some sport bikes out there. The lean angle may hold it back a bit, but other than that I don't see why it can't compete with similarly powered sport bikes out there.

I guess it really comes down to gearing and the powerbands along with how far of a stretch their going for ?

Here's a video review from them. It's test rides like these that makes me wish I lived in Spain. Beautiful scenery and amazing roads to throw a Bobber around.

Kinda wish there wasn't so much wind noise though.. the far distant run though was nice.

His only complaint is that the lever is firm

That's a small issue. What's important is this guy is giving us the sort of information you want to know as a rider, that you can't get from reading a spec sheet. One that stands out to be is riding in a number of situations throughout the day and not being tired, that's big.

The bike is effortless to ride and forgiving when it comes to new riders so long as they passed the riding tests. There's helpful features like tractable power delivery, traction control, abs, etc.

With zero experience, the power may overwhelm them.

Too much motorcycle for too little skills and traffic knowledge is just a recipe for disaster. My friend knew this when I first started riding and wanted to borrow his 600cc bike right off the bat.

Traction control and ABS will definitely give riders a peace of mind, even the seasoned ones. I wouldn't mind the traction control stepping in on moist roads.

It's going to help a lot in the city like New York that has crazy drivers since the last thing you want is to increase your vulnerability. But first I would test the ABS just to know how its going to react.

You definitely need to have a level of skill if you're going to be in highly populated areas like NYC riding around. It's one thing to know how to ride, it's another thing to be able to keep aware of your surroundings at all times and know how to react/maneuver in close call situations.
