G'day from Western Australia

Hey all, just wanted to bounce a hello to all.
Picked up the shiny new Bobber last week and still wearing a huge grin.
Did the V&H pipes, XCat and the clip ons options.

As for the clip ons - Let me preface this by saying I've been riding a 500cc Royal Enfield for the past 5 years.
My daily commuter and I put 90,000km on her and still love her dearly. But it was time to put her out to pasture and bring her out for special occasions and the odd blat.
So the riding posture on the Enfield was very much upright.

Aesthetically, I liked the low profile of the clipons on the Bobber and while the posture has taken little getting used to, I'm only 5'9" so don't feel cramped at all.
More pressure on the wrists, not the back..getting used to that quick enough.
And it's not as much of a forward lean as I first thought, meaning my..erm..ample waist isn't in contact with the tank.

So besides that, jumping onto a 1200cc after riding a 500cc single for so many years has been hilarious. I am soo going to get a few speeding tickets!
Hit the ton briefly over the weekend on a nice long straight (something I could only dream of on the Enfield) but am mindful of running her in easy so keeping it smooth for now. But 500km in 3 days ain't bad.

My only gripe is the tank capacity and how quickly 9 litres seems to dwindle before that poor 2litre warning light pops up. It'll mean my long fantasised trip across the Nullarbor Plain stretch (1675km) is going to require some additional thinking considering frequency of the longest fuel stops is 180-200km.

Anyway, I'm liking the look of the forum. Very active, very helpful and I should be able to get some good support from what appears to be a great bunch of crazy bastards. Similar to the US Enfield Forums actually.

So it's goodbye to the thump of the single cyl Enfield and hello to the nice low growl of the Bobber.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.
Congrats on your new bike!
Great intro and liking the mods you chose to start with.
9L is a miniscule size tank, but others here have swapped it out for a T120 tank and/or carry a reserve bottle (though 1 extra litre over 1675KM is not going to make much of a difference )

Thanks Eisen
Just a little extra to get me the 50km or so and I should be fine.
Need to sort the extra weight/efficiency ratio so that it doesn't become counter productive.

Welcome to the forum.

How neat to see a bobber with the sun on its seat and a shadow underneath.

Enjoy.

Nullarbor eh? That is a fair old trek.

Brings back memories of breaking down on that road in a clapped out Holden back in 1991. Scary!
