Hard Panniers On My Bobber - First Picks

Hi Gents, (meant to say 'pics' in the title not picks, sorry about that)

So likely another controversial post but hey that seems to be my thing.

With much gratitude to a fellow forum member in the UK who sent me over these, I have just fitted a set of hard panniers to my bike and wanted to share some initial photographs (attached).

These certainly give the old girl some 'junk in the trunk' but hey I like a girl with a few curves..

I just fitted these and did a very short test ride, so will comment more fully at a later date. I like these but the position of them is a little too high and forward, so watch this space as I may look into modifying the location a little.

Anyway here you go, first pics.

Cheerio,

Roy

P.s. My wife's happy as I just ran out to pick here up some chocolate cake..

Goes well with your vision, Roy. From here, I agree about the position (more from the first pic than the other two). Maybe only a little adjustment. Can you also remove them easily if u want?

Thanks for that.

As for removal yes, one simply unlocks the bracket with a key and pull the whole pannier from the bracket.

I'm thinking of running over to me welder to see if we can't reposition the bracket.

Cheerio,

Roy

I have a cunning plan..!

I think I can use my old brackets and reposition them in a more pleasing way. Will give it a go first thing in the morning.

Thanks mate,

My Bobber is my only bike, so it has to do it all and I love long trips and camping.

I can't wait for the morning as I think I've worked out a way to mount them a little lower, should improve the looks substantially.

Fingers crossed will be checking in tomorrow.

Of course now I have these (and assuming they work out), I've now got two extra sets of soft panniers with brackets spare..

Cheerio,

Roy

Hi Gents,

As mentioned the standard (C-Bow) brackets placed the panniers too high/forward for my liking. By some small miracle some of the attachment points actually match my custom brackets

So I spent the early hours swapping them out and hey presto..

Okay so it's not perfect but certainly closer and more aesthetically pleasing.

I'm still not 100% sure about these on the bike but I'm going to run with them for a while, see how I like them, see if they work for me. I liked my set of Triumph soft panniers but prefer the blacked out look of these, although they do look a little larger.

O well, off for a test ride and will report back.

Cheerio,

Roy

For the Bobber as a general rule I'm of the opinion that 'Less is More' but Roy your build is the exception. IMHO for your Speed-Bobber-Bagger those hard panniers are perfect!
