Question Frame Rubber

Hi, Notice the piece of rubber at the head of the frame was loose. Anyone know what its function is? Do I need to stick it back on? See attached.

It was just stuck to the frame and not in contact with any other part.

Found it here.
I think it does indeed sit somewhere under the fuel tank to protect the frame:

After I had my tank off , I concluded it was there to be a buffer between the tank and frame while removing and installing the tank. So not vital. If you want it , 2 way tape it back in place. Otherwise , just use care while servicing the bike when pulling the tank is required.

So far behind , I think I'm in first place.

That's great thanks. Think I will leave it off and just be careful.
